Last week my class and I learnt about Ratios. We were given problems to solve that were based on Ratios. During that week the whole class had to pair up and create a slideshow based on what ratios are.

So what are ratios?

• As we made our slideshow I found out that a ratio compares value.  A ratio explains and shows how much one thing is compared to another.
• To express ratios in words we use the ratio of one thing¨to¨ something else.

• Ratios can be used on drawings and maps to show a scale in relation to real life.

Example:

A bowl has 6 apples and 4 peers.

The ratio of apples to peers are 6:4

Where do we use them?

Ratios can be used during your usual grocery shopping, cooking and getting from place to place these are the most 3 common real-life situations.

Questions:

What questions do you still have about Ratios?

I don't actually have any questions about ratios, because I feel like I have a learnt enough about them and there's nothing that I think I still need to learn. I also don't know when there will be a time where I desperately need to use ratios because there are also other alternatives to things.

What were some of your strengths and weaknesses in this unit? What is your plan to improve in your areas of weakness? 

One of my weaknesses was not being able to fully understand what ratios really are. As we continued to learn more about them it became easier than before. My strengths were being able to persevere through my learning and not giving up on trying to understand this unit. To improve my weakness I just need to keep trying and keep pushing forward.

Today we manage to fix a lot of things up and we disscused stuff for a very long time.

We took forever trying to understand one paragraph.

Work faster and practice heaps.

We managed to finish out decoration on the presentation to make it look more presentable.

31/10/18 What went well today?
Today I enjoyed decorating the presentation and helping Lenora out.

I didn't need help today only Lenora did.

What didn't go well today?
Everything went smoothly so there was nothing that didn't go well.

How will you improve in the next lesson?
I say this all the time but its because I think we can still work harder and faster. So yeah just to work more efficiently.

Today was a very fun lesson I really enjoyed and things were smooth.

I didn't need help with anything and if I did I probably would go to Lenora and Ofa.

What didn't go well today?
So today there was no problems at all, well atleast I think.

How will you improve in the next lesson?
Next lesson I am hoping to have the presentaion close enough to being finish and also make some modifications.

What went well today?
Today we manage to find a different way of presenting our work, which was good for us because no one else will be using this idea.

Is there anything you need help with? Who can help you?
I don't think we need any help with anything because there is three of us and we are pretty good.

What didn't go well today?
It was kind of hard when had done our presentation and were told to like come up with something different because we had spent time doing it. But eventually, we persevered and found something different.

How will you improve in the next lesson?
I think we have to work faster and possibly spend some time at home working on it cause we have to catch up on creating our presentation and just figuring out how we are going to make our pictures fit.

What went well today?
Today I actually enjoyed my lesson because everything was going smoothly. As we were looking at the map of Samoa and where the natural disaster occurred, we got to find out where Lenora comes from.

I needed help with the mapping. I could not find exactly where the Tsunami hit but with the help of Lenora, I was able too.

What didn't go well today?
I don't think we got as much done as I'd like to but it's fine cause now I've just gotta play catch up.

How will you improve in the next lesson?
Hopefully, we are going to be working much more efficiently and make the most of our time. Other than that I am positive that we will complete it and have everything done on time.

Well, today we basically finished everything and there wasn't much to do which worked smoothly.

I didn't any help but I think Lenora did so I went and helped her out with her task.

What didn't go well today?
Not everyone was communicating well. Which I thought made it hard for me to work well.

How will you improve in the next lesson?
I am hoping that by the next lesson everyone is speaking with each other and communicating with each other properly.

What went well today? 
Today I enjoyed working with my group. We all took on different roles as well as helping each other out. Everything went really smooth. I had no trouble really.

Is there anything you need help with? Who can help you?
 I only needed help with my essay and luckily Ofa helped me.

What didn't go well today?
I think everything was actually fine etc... We didn't fight or argue and we were all on the same page as each other, which made things easier and I am very happy with the group I am with.

How will you improve in the next lesson?
I think the next lesson I am going to try to get a lot more work done and maybe even get ahead of the class and be really detailed in my writing, but also keeping the reader interested.

Explain how this app will enhance the user's wellbeing in the short term and long term. You need to discuss all 4 dimensions of wellbeing. 

Spiritual well-being- So this app has many qualities that will help whoever uses it to decrease there addiction to alcohol, smoking and drugs. This gives them a better life, referring to the Whare Tapa-Wha this app can help you increase your 4 dimensions of well-being. This app gives sites that help you with your spiritual well-being as to give yourself less stress about the addiction you have also the phone number on the app can help and give you guidance for you to have peace at mind.

Physical well-being- The app gives you advice on what else you can do instead of having a hard time rethinking whether or not you should drink or smoke, having a hobby to be addicted to can enhance your well-being physically because any hobby you do can get you physically active instead of drinking and smoking.

Social well-being- These addictions affect not only you but your family and anyone that is close to you. The mistakes you make while drunk affects your family, not only would it affect them emotionally but also physically. This can have a huge impact on the decisions your family makes, on whether or not they will have you around them at all. That's why we have sites for you to look at and courses for you to take, so none of these happens.

Mental and Emotional well-being- All addicts have to face different kinds of problems when dealing with their own addictions. One being that drugs can affect the way your mind works including the way you think. This leaves your life at risk and maybe even close relatives at risk. We also have specialists on call if help is needed for those struggling to stay on their right mind and to improve the path they want to continue working on.

 Chapter Eleven

 1. How does Ellie feel as she is waiting in the truck at the Council Depot?
     Where do her emotions come from?
Ellie felt cold, fear and excitement. The greatest of these was fear which comes from her love.

 2. Why are the girls smiling when in danger? Is this a logical response?
They are laughing out of nervousness and at the way they are going about things and how everything is happening. I think it is a logical response because if I was in the situation I'd be laughing out of nervousness too. This is nervous energy.

 3. What does wearing a helmet and buckling up mean to the girls?
The helmet can protect them from getting a far more worse injury than death.
It's the difference between brain damage and death.

 4. What does Chris’s story say about the town? 
Chris found lots of things that showed signs of suspicion like peoples homes been blown up or a car that crashed with dead people, but they didn't die from the crash because there were bullet wounds. Which says that someones come into their town and have attacked them. They spread out and killed people instead of just being at the showground.

 5. What impact does the BMW have on the story? Does Chris seem lonely? Explain your answer? 
The car helps them escape and the truck was loud and noisy which almost resulted in their death. The sound of the car falling into the river also brings Chris out of his hiding place, and if they hadn't gotten rid of it, it would give away their hiding place. Chris does seem lonely and he was a quiet person but he hadn't talked to someone in so long he became the life of the party.

 6. What is Homer’s explanation for the need to swap cars at Chris Lang’s place?
 What does this show about the way he is thinking?
If the soldiers find the vehicle outside Chris's house they might think there is a connection between the car and Chris's family so they could harm Chris's family. It also gives it away. This shows that Homer is thinking strategically and making sure they aren't leaving traces of themselves. Homer is also thinking ahead meaning he's putting himself in the enemies shoes and think about what he'd do if he was looking for people.

 7. What are your thoughts on the story so far...
The story is becoming more interesting now because we are getting more of an insight to what everyone is thinking and also what the enemies are thinking like at first they were jumpy and a bit frightened too, but now they have gained a lot more confidence.

Art Term 3 Portrait

An Incomparable portrait souvenir has been STOLEN!!!

A day ago my artwork was stolen and snatched from its place without the frame. Displayed on the front surface of the page is a print of my past self and how I portrayed myself to look back then. Centred in the middle of the page slightly more to the right is where the head of my body on the Artwork is. Below the head is a polka dotted jersey with slightly more shadowing to the right and rough little linocuts on the left. Interfering with the polka dot jersey on the right is my long dark brown hair that carries right on till it reaches the bottom of the surface.

In the linocut, I have cut deeper in the left to help show the contrasting of the lightness and darkness on both sides. As I have cut deeper on the left I have made sure to do light little cuts on the rights side to make sure that the left stands out more and to help make it obvious where shadowing is. On the right side, you may not be able to notice the eye without the two slight little cuts I have made making sure I am outlining the eyeball without cutting too much away.

Without blending my picture into the background I have cut at least 1cm away from the linocut to make sure the outlines are still visible to the eye and so that you are still able to pick out each detail without ruining it. I have also cut at the top of the picture a nice vibrant cloud and small and deep cuts to show lots of different context in the clouds. I hope you are able to find my portrait because it would mean a lot.

Guerillas- Small group taking part in irregular fighting against larger regular forces.

Interject-  To say something abruptly or to interrupt something.

Smug- Feeling pleased with oneself or feeling superior.

Vicious- To be cruel or violent typically towards people or something.

Emphatically- To do something in a forceful way or clearly.

Scuffle- Confused fight or struggle at close quarters. Act of sound of moving in a hurried.

Sideswipe- Strike with a glancing blow.

Elated- To make someone ecstatically happy.

Building a Volcano

Making a Volcano

Equipment:

1. Ice cream container lid
2. Plastic bottle
3. Scrap paper
4. Sellotape
5. Flour
6. Water
7. Plaster
8. Paint
9. kI+H202

Aim:
To create a volcano and then hopefully make it explode.

Method:
Put the bottle in the middle of the container.
Sellotape the plastic bottle onto the container.
 Collect your scrap paper and scrunch it up,  then sellotaping it to the bottle into a volcano shape like figure.
 Get flour+water to form a paper mache glue.
Plaster the whole volcano.
 Paint it adding texture to the volcano.
Add the chemicals to make the eruption.

Observation:
We took dishwashing liquid and then we added Hydrogen Peroxide and Potassium Iodide and we watched a whole bunch of foam burst out!
