Venus Mythology

Facts about Venus the God:

• Venus is the goddess of love and beauty along with her son Cupid (Eros) became a metaphor for sexual love.
• She is known as the Daughter of Heaven and Sea.
• Venus is the creational Earth mother. Venus was also the goddess of victory, fertility, love, and even prostitution.
• People have described Venus as "the most original creation of Roman pantheon"
• The people would think that Venus was the same God as 'Aphrodite' who is the Greek god for love, compassion, and beauty.

6 Facts How people Worshiped her and what mischief they got up too:

• Many men and woman would ask for her advice on the matters of the heart.
• People began to celebrate and praise Venus by making big events and worshipping her on one particular day.
• Brides would make offerings to Venus hours before they got married to the love of their life.
• Venus was really important to the Romans that they claim her as their ancestress. 
• Venus was married to the god of fire and forgery, and people worshipped their kind of love.
• There is a myth that Venus was having a Love affair with Mars and how Vulcan trapped them in bed with a net. Which eventually left them with a loveless marriage and people changed their worshipping.

Performance Evaluation

Green Light

1. Were you happy with your performance? Why? Describe?

I'm not really happy with my performance because I know that I can do way better than I did perform. I think the reason why I didn't do quite as well is I found it harder to use the piano mainly because the keys were harder to press.

2. How did you feel performing in front of an audience? explain!

I was really nervous to be very honest because I'm not used to performing in front of people. But in the end, everything worked out fine.

3. What was your final grade and were you happy?

I was very happy with my grade because I wasn't expecting to get a higher mark. I was sure I was going to fail.

4. How could you improve your performance?

If I wanted to improve my performance I think I would practice a little bit more just to get it perfect.

Stone age art and How writing has changed over time.

How has writing changed over time?

Hieroglyphics is an Eygiptian system which was used for communication between themselves. They would create pictures to represent a letter and draw/paint them in a vertical way. Now, these days we use letters as a way of communicating by writing letters horizontally across the page or we use a devices to communicate. This is they we (humankind) communicate with each other without having to draw pictures and write them the way the Egyptians would.
Down below I have written my name using the hieroglyphics form and also written the English translations.

Stone age 

So lately my class (10Hy) and I have recently been researching things about stone age and the Neolithic/Paleolithic people. As I have researched things I have noticed how much more the human race has advanced in technology and everyday items.  I learnt about how the created their weapons and how gone from using stones that have been sharpened to guns and knives that are made professionally and stuff like that has really caught my attention. The drawing I have drawn below tells a story of how they would party and also fight sometimes at night. We had to create these pictures using sticks and paint to try to get a taste of how they would create these drawings and the tools they would use.

Turning Copper Coins into Gold

Aim: To turn copper into gold.

Equipment: 

• Copper coin/copper strip
• Bunsen burner
• Tripod
• Heat Mat
• Gauze mat
• Beaker
• Tongs
• Zinc metal
• 'Zinc Nitrate

Method:

1. Wash copper coin thoroughly

2. Add fresh strips of zinc metal to the solution. Heat to boiling over a bunsen burner.

3. Drop washed copper coin into the solution. Make sure it is touching some of the Zinc metal or the reaction won't work.

4. Leave coin in the solution for 5-10 minutes (check back to observe changes).

5. Remove coin with the tongs, and hold under running water to wash.

6. Use the tongs to hold the washed coin in the Bunsen flame. Observe things.

Observations:
As we watched the solution boil, it began to boil over. 

The Power of One

In English, we were asked to individually write a SEXXY paragraph about a particular shot that was taken from The Power of One.  Down below I have written my paragraph.

(S) The film aspect in one of the scenes the director uses a close up of Sergeant Borman with his baton against Geel Piet’s (a prisoner) neck holding him against the wall.	(E) The director has used a close up to show the audience how Sergeant Borman is standing aggressively with Geel Piet against the wall, with Sergeant Borman glaring at Geel Piet, while Geel Piet avoids eye contact.	(X) The director's purpose of using the close up is to help express the mood and outline that there is a problem going on. Which is Sergeant Borman holding Geel Piet who is very vulnerable, against the wall.	(X) Because the director used close-up, it has made the audience feel mad and helpless. This scene is causing us to feel what Geel Piet is feeling and and it’s made us nervous and scared for Geel Piet.	(Y) This aspect can be compared to when the director used a long shot in the scene where Sergeant Borman stands across from Geel Piet with his Baton. In that scene, we felt scared and angry like we do in this scene.

Evidence - Otzi The Iceman

Otzi The Iceman 

In Summary 
In Social Studies we have recently been researching and creating a presentation about a man named Otzi. Otzi was found with his body perfected preserved and still intact because of the cold temperature. This man was discovered by researchers and studied by scientists. We have been learning about Otzi for almost two weeks now and we were given questions to find out. After we finished gathering information we then got into groups and started to build a presentation. My class and I were told to pick a theory based on how he died and provide evidence that can back up our theory. In our research, we found that Otzi was shot with an arrow.  We decided to look more into that and explain how we think he was killed e.g if we thought he was killed without getting a chance to fight back we would have to provide strong evidence to prove so.

Why is Evidence important?
Without having evidence to back up our theory we aren't able to prove or make people believe what we believe, and that's because there is nothing that can persuade them into thinking what we think so to them we could just be telling "lies" or "made up" stories.

Making Hokey pokey

Hokey Pokey

Method
1. Put all ingredients except baking soda in a saucepan over low heat.
2. Raise heat slightly so it bubbles, stirs until sugar dissolves.
3. Take off heat.
4. Add baking soda and stir it. Observe
When we added the baking soda the mixture began to harden.
5. Pour carefully into tinfoil
6. allow cooling.

Equipment

• Saucepan 
• Spoon
• 50g of sugar
• 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1 TBSP golden syrup.

We formed Carbon dioxide by heating a base which was baking soda which is Sodium bicarbonate and as the hokey pokey began to boil it released/produced carbon dioxide. 
We also added one piece of chocolate to the mixture, and the hokey pokey worked out fine.
