Human Rights Evaluation/Reflection

13.04.18

Human Rights
For the last several weeks, I have learnt multiple things about Human Rights under the topics of:
-Child Labor
-Child Soldiers
-Human Trafficking

These particular topics have made me view the world in a different way because I am angrier with how others were treated and how they weren't given their rights to life.
Some of the rights they had lost were:
-The right to education
-The right to freedom
-Their equality with us

People were judged by the colour of their skin. These people suffered severely. This makes me sad because slavery is still happening today. I am grateful that I have been brought up in a place where I was not forced to work, or that I was given my human rights; Yet again I feel guilty that maybe it should have been us or people who deserved it. This is something that is very unfortunate for others, and the saddest thing is that parents have to sell their children into that world in order to make money for survival.
Some kids feel that they should help their families so they will even volunteer themselves into this world of slavery.

In some places in the world, slavery is accepted by their governments. We should feel protected,  secure and have trust in our governments but these countries cannot see the harm they are causing to others lives because they are only focused on their personal needs or wants.
Millions and more are living in poverty.

I have now learned that too many people take things for granted. We are too worried about getting our nails done, buying some new products, buying a new car, and the worse thing is those products are made by slaves and our money doesn't even go to them. But we aren't trying to stop the problems in the world, why? Because as far as we know it's on the other side of the world and it doesn't concern us. But it should, because these are people, they bleed just like us, they have feelings just like us and they deserve a chance to live just like us! I think we should stand up for these people and try to make a difference in the world.

This term I have learnt a lot and I am glad that I have because I wouldn't have thought of the world differently as I have now.
